Samsung Galaxy F23 5G: Review, price and full specs

The category of low-cost smartphones appears to be carrying A LOT on its back! To appeal to a broader audience, these smartphones attempt to have practically everything, from decent cameras to faster CPUs to larger screens. The Samsung Galaxy F23 is the latest addition to the inexpensive smartphone sector family. With about three thousand dollars more than its predecessor, the Galaxy F22, it delivers an FHD+ TFT display instead of an AMOLED and a battery capacity reduction of 1000mAh. However, there are some noteworthy improvements, such as the Snapdragon 750G CPU, 120Hz refresh rate, and now 5G connection.

The Samsung Galaxy F23 5G is up against a slew of other affordable smartphone competitors, including Xiaomi, Realme, Vivo, Moto G71, and a slew of others. Is the Samsung Galaxy F23 only a byproduct of the large-budget smartphone craze? Is it bringing something fresh to the table, or is it bringing something old to the table? I can’t claim that based just on figures and specifications on paper! Clearly, there are a lot of unanswered questions. And in order to find out the answers, I utilized it for approximately two weeks, and this is what I discovered.

Samsung Galaxy F23 Design

Instead of the standard color selections, the Samsung Galaxy F23 comes in two new colors:  Aqua Blue and Forest green, with a simplistic design on the backside. The back cameras, as well as the flashlight, are mounted vertically atop a rectangular module that protrudes from the main panel. While the rear of the phone has a dull matte appearance, the sides have a glossy frame.

Despite being a huge smartphone weighing roughly 198 grams, it has a curved frame on the sides that makes it easy to handle. The back panel is free of scratches, however, fading smudges may be observed without diverting attention from the overall appearance. On the front, it has a top-mounted Infinity-U display (as Samsung likes to call it).

Samsung Galaxy F23 Display

Last year’s Galaxy F22 had a Super AMOLED display, whereas the Samsung Galaxy F23 has a 6.6-inch FHD+ TET display. Whatever the cause for this decrease, the fact is that you won’t be missing out on much of the watching experience. It produces brilliant and vibrant colors, but you will not have the same experience in direct sunshine!

The display fails to provide an adequate level of brightness and color, making it difficult to read and use the smartphone. The 120Hz refresh rate, combined with the Corning Gorilla Glass 5, is a significant improvement over the previous F-series smartphone, which only has a 90Hz refresh rate. This enables the Galaxy F23’s display worthwhile for playing games.

Samsung Galaxy F23 Performance

This is Samsung’s first F-series smartphone featuring a Snapdragon 750G processor and 5G connectivity. It has internal storage choices of 4GB and 6GB RAM, as well as 128GB of storage that can be upgraded up to 1TB via a memory card. Here. For my review, I utilized the 6GB RAM model, which showed no stutters or delays while switching between apps. It may be used for everyday tasks or even casual gaming. However, if you choose to play high-definition games for lengthy periods of time, such as Call of Duty, BGMI or Asphalt 9, the phone may become fatigued and even overheat.

On the software front, the Galaxy F23 runs on One UI 4.1, which is based on Android 12 and has a clean and simple design with a variety of configurable choices ranging from fonts to themes to app icon color palettes. Despite the fact that it comes with various pre-installed Samsung and third-party apps, they remain silent and do not send out annoying alerts.

You also have the option to remove them whenever you want if you don’t want to retain them. It has a 3.5mm audio port and speakers that are loud enough to fill a room with sound. For security, it has facial recognition as well as a fingerprint sensor included in the unlock button, which has failed to recognize fingerprints swiftly at times.

Samsung Galaxy F23 Camera

Given the smartphone’s price, the Galaxy F23’s camera performance was a pleasant surprise! It was able to offer more than expected with its triple camera configuration at the rear on a rectangular module including a 50MP main sensor, an 8MP wide-angle camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. In daylight, the photographs seemed bright, crisp, and true to color. Indoor photography, on the other hand, produced photographs with more soft details while maintaining the color tones.

The camera was able to collect enough light even in low-light circumstances to produce photographs that were detailed and colorful. Likewise, macro mode is useless unless you really commit to keeping the attention on a single element! As a result, I only used a primary camera to take close-up shots.

In the photographs, the portrait mode was unable to clearly discern the boundaries. Even though the bokeh effect is good, it’s not included in the after-photo customization option. Not only that, but Samsung included a ‘Fun’ setting in the camera that uses Snapchat filters, which should appeal to social media users. Having said that, the 8MP selfie camera can take selfies with equally dispersed light on the face and backdrop without changing the skin tone colors in both natural and artificial light.

When it comes to video recording, the Galaxy F23 has a super steady mode that allows you to capture moving things with ease, but auto-focus causes flutters in the footage. Well, considering the price, there’s not much to criticize about the Galaxy F23 camera; it’s neither great nor poor! It’s just okay.

Samsung Galaxy F23 Battery

The Galaxy F23’s battery life is one of its most outstanding characteristics. The 5000mAh battery can last more than a day with usual use, such as calling, messaging, surfing through social media, and listening to music. If you plan on doing a lot of excessive viewing or playing for lengthy periods of time, you’ll need to charge it before the end of the day. But that was an uncommon occurrence for me because I seldom played games for lengthy periods of time.

But here’s another disappointment from Samsung: you probably won’t find a charging adaptor in the package of a low-cost smartphone anymore! Regrettably, you must either get a supported 25W Samsung charger or settle with any other existing charger from other handsets. I attempted to charge it with a 30W charging adaptor, which could fill it from 0 to 100% in over 1.5 hours.

Samsung Galaxy F23 Price, Review and Conclusion

Samsung Galaxy F23

The Samsung Galaxy F23, which starts at Rs. 15.999 for the 6GB model, delivers practically everything in a well-balanced package. The Galaxy F23 is simple to suggest to anybody looking for a cheap smartphone with everything on board, thanks to its basic yet new design, 120Hz refresh rate display, long battery life, clean software, 5G connection, and respectable camera performance. But it’s the lack of a charging adapter on an inexpensive smartphone that irritates me the most. In such situation, purchasing a new Samsung 25W charger will raise the phone’s price.
